Rounding Decimals – Worksheets for 5th Grade
Are you looking for a fun (and differentiated) way for your student to sharpen their decimal rounding skills? We all know that this skill is an important one, as students will use this when estimating sums, differences, products, and quotients. Teach Starter has created a differentiated color-by-number worksheet where students will create a beautiful stained-glass window design by answering questions correctly.
The three levels are:
- One Star: Round to the nearest tenth, hundredth and whole
- Two Stars: Round to the nearest tenth, hundredth, thousandth and whole
- Three Stars: Critical thinking questions with decimal rounding
Teachers can distribute the 3 versions based on student skill level or just provide a variety of tasks so student pages are not all colored the same way. Then, students follow the on-page directions to color the image correctly. Afterward, the colored pages would make a great bulletin board or class decoration!
An answer key is included with your download to make grading fast and easy!

To challenge students, let them complete multiple versions or create their own!
Provide support by giving students a place value mat and completed examples. Demonstrate the steps for rounding and assist students one on one as needed.
