How to Play This Halloween Emoji Game With Answers

This Halloween Emoji Game with answers resource is designed for whole-class play. See the below for detailed instructions on how to play.

  1. Open the Game in Google Slides or PowerPoint
    • Project the Halloween Emoji Game onto your board or screen so the entire class can see the emoji combinations.
    • Make sure each student or team has paper and a pencil (or whiteboards and markers) to record their answers.
  2. Introduce the Rules to Your Students
    • Tell your class: “You’ll see a group of emojis. Together, the emojis represent a Halloween-related word, character, object, book, or movie. Your job is to figure out what they mean!”
    • Explain that they will get up to 20 seconds to think and write down their guess.
    • Show the First Emoji Puzzle.
    • Click to display the first group of emojis.
    • Start a timer for 20 seconds. (You can shorten or extend the time depending on your students’ age or needs.
  3. Give Students Thinking and Writing Time
    • Allow students to quietly think and write their guess on paper or their whiteboard.
    • Encourage them not to shout out answers so everyone has a fair chance to play.
  4. Reveal the Answer
    • After time is up, click to reveal the correct answer.
    • Have students check their work and give themselves one point if their guess was correct.
  5. Keep Score (Optional)
    • Students can track their own scores individually, or you can turn it into a team competition by grouping the class.
    • If you’d rather use the game just as a brain break, you can skip scoring and simply enjoy solving each puzzle together.
  6. Continue the Game
    • Work through as many emoji puzzles as you’d like. The game includes a variety of Halloween-themed answers to keep students engaged.
