Make Your Grandparents’ Day Activities Explosive!

Not really…but this year, have your students make Grandparents’ Day crafts that’ll be a blast to make, decorate and deliver to their loved ones on the holiday.

This printable activity is a fun way for your students to show how much they love Grandma and Grandpa on this special day. This one-page template features a neat foldable template that creates a cute little Grandparents’ Day note. When unfolded, it’s like the special notes keep exploding out of the card a little at a time!

Making Your Exploding Grandparents’ Day Note

To make this exploding note, follow these instructions.

  1. Cut out the entire card around the perimeter of the shape.
  2. Write a short note in each of the sections of the template.
  3. Flip the template over and color/decorate the back using crayons or colored pencils. Make sure to put the name of the person who will receive the card in the center section.
  4. Flip the template back over and cut along the dotted line, stopping when they reach the solid line.
  5. Fold the four heart-shaped sections inward on the solid line so they lay on the square next to them.
  6. Now fold the 4 square/heart sides inward to cover the “Happy Grandparents’ Day!” in the center.
  7. Secure the note closed with a small piece of tape or a sticker.
