Seasons, Plants and Animals Sort

If your 2nd grade students are learning about migration, hibernation, and dormancy of living things, this hands-on sorting activity will help them explore how these changes affect the lives of plants and animals.

This downloadable seasons game includes:

  • A set of directions,
  • 24 sorting cards,
  • 5 sorting headers, and
  • an answer key for easy self-checking.

Through this activity, students will investigate how seasonal changes affect plants and animals, including animals that hibernate and migrate.

🍏 Teacher Tips for This Sorting Activity

This resource is intended to be used as a review or practice for students learning about how weather affects plants and animals.

To prepare this sorting activity, cut the headers and cards along the dotted lines. You can laminate the cards for durability, or alternatively print them on cardstock.

Students look at all of the images on the cards and sort them into the different categories.

For students requiring an additional challenge, ask them to compare and contrast two of the organisms on the cards.

For students who require a little extra support, provide the definition of each term near them to refer to.
