Initial Sound Clip Cards (Version 1)

Teach Starter Publishing
PDF | 7 pages | Grades: PK - 1

A hands-on activity to practice initial sounds.

Use this teaching resource in the classroom when learning to identify the initial sounds of words.

This foundational language activity is ideal to use in your reading small groups or as a reading center activity.

  • Print this resource on cardstock to ensure durability.
  • Cut along the dotted lines to create small activity cards.
  • Provide your students with the cards and a bucket of clothespins.
  • Students say the word shown in the picture, determine the initial sound, and clip a clothespin on the letter that makes the sound.

This is a great way to work on those fine motor skills too!
