Create an Emergency Plan With Our Fire Escape Plan Template

It’s important for kids to know what to do if there’s a fire at home, but many may not have been taught what to do. It’s time for that to change, and the Teach Starter team has been hard at work creating the best and brightest fire prevention week lessons and activities you can find!

To help your students prepare for fire emergencies, you can send home a fire escape plan template during Fire Prevention Week. This will encourage families to discuss how to react to a fire and ensure everyone is safe. This printable template asks kids to write down their family’s escape plan and draw a map of the exit route and where to meet after escaping.

Make Creating a Fire Escape Plan For Kids As Easy as 1-2-3!

This Fire Escape Plan For Kids planning template makes it easy for young learners to plan for emergencies. It gives students a structured way to:

  • Identify all possible exits in their home.

  • Design a safe meeting spot for their family.

  • Practice communication skills by sharing their plan at home.

  • Connect classroom learning with real-world application.

This activity also promotes writing, sequencing, and problem-solving skills, making it a meaningful addition to safety week lessons, Fire Prevention Month activities, or a visit from the local fire department.

It’s also an excellent homework assignment for Fire Prevention Week.

Resources to Pair With Your Fire Safety Home Plan Template

This Fire Safety Home Plan Template is perfect for accompanying a variety of Fire Safety Lessons for elementary-age students. We recommend pairing it with another of Teach Starter’s engaging fire safety resources—such as interactive games, vocabulary cards, or safety-themed writing prompts—to reinforce key concepts and make learning memorable.
