Write Their Name – Why It Matters

Learning to write their name is a fundamental milestone for young students. It fosters a sense of identity and ownership, boosts confidence and is often one of the first steps in developing fine motor skills. Mastering this very special word also helps children recognize and form letters, understand letter-sound relationships and develop the coordination needed for more complex writing tasks.

Our experienced teacher team has designed this mini-book to provide your students with multiple opportunities to practice writing their names. Over ten mini-sized pages, students will complete a variety of tasks to help automate the spelling of this very important word!

The activities in this mini-book include:

  • I can write my name with a pencil.
  • I can write my name with crayons.
  • I can write my name with bubble writing.
  • I can write my name with finger paint.
  • I can write my name with letters cut from a magazine.
  • I can write my name with stamps.
  • I can find pictures of things that start with the same letter as my name.
  • I can draw myself wearing a name badge.

This resource downloads as either a color or black-and-white PDF.

By incorporating these activities into your classroom routine, your students will soon be writing their names with confidence!
