Christmas Writing Activities for Beginners

Are you looking for a fun and engaging way to bring the holidays into the classroom and help your students become better writers? This packet is exactly what you need!

Students will practice reading, writing, and constructing simple sentences to develop their beginning writing skills. It’s perfect for small-group instruction, center activities, or whole-group writing instruction!

In this set, you’ll find 5 different sentence builders about Christmas for a total of 5 pages. Students will read the sentence, draw it, write it, then build the sentence by cutting and pasting the words in the correct order. It may be helpful to do several interactive lessons together with students and model the steps several times before letting your students complete them independently!

These sentence builders are perfect to use in your guided small groups, in a center, writer’s workshop, as an early finisher activity, in morning work, or whole-group writing instruction.

Differentiate and Scaffold Christmas Writing Prompts

In addition to independent student work time, use this worksheet as an activity for:

  • Guided writing groups
  • Lesson warm-up
  • Lesson wrap-up
  • Fast finishers
  • Homework assignment
  • Whole-class review (via smartboard)
