12 mins | Grades: 3 - 6

Add guided meditation for students to your social emotional learning toolkit with a handy video that guides kids through a 10-minute body scan.

Start the School Week With a Guided Meditation for Students!

Need a way to help students ease back into the school week after the excitement of a weekend? This guided meditation video was created by our teacher team to offer teachers like you a simple way to help your students de-stress and refocus.

At 10 minutes long, we recommend this meditation for upper elementary and middle school students. Looking for a meditation video to use with younger students? Try this 5-minute mindful breathing video instead!

How to Lead a Guided Meditation for Students

We’ve made the video simple so you can hit play, and the calm voice will do the work of leading students through the entire meditation, but here are a few tips to make sure it’s a success!

  1. Set the Right Tone for Meditation — You’ll want to create a quiet and comfortable environment in the classroom. Dim the lights, put on some soft instrumental music and suggest students find a comfortable spot to sit or lie down.
  2. Encourage Students to Close Their Eyes — Closed eyes will help your class tune out the distractions so they can better listen to the instructions given in the video.
  3. Allow Some Time for Reflection — After the video is done leading students through their meditation, give them a few moments of complete quiet to reflect on their experience.
  4. Use the Meditation as a Discussion Point — You might want to ask questions such as, “Did you feel more relaxed or focused?” or “What thoughts or emotions came up during the meditation?”
  5. Print a Script for Students – Students can continue the body scan meditation introduced in this video at home with this teacher-created script!
