Are you looking for a fun activity to help your students practice addition strategies, but worksheets just aren’t cutting it? This ‘Strategy Spin’ activity is a great way for your students to practise two-digit addition, all while practising the following addition strategies:
- Compensation Strategy
- Jump Strategy
- Split Strategy
- 100s Chart Strategy
How to Play
- Place the addition cards face down.
- Students pick up an addition equation from the pile and then spin the spinner to reveal the addition strategy they must use to solve the problem.
- Students solve the problem using that addition strategy.
- You can have manipulatives, printed number lines, hundreds charts etc, to assist with their work.
- Students check their answers using the provided answer sheet.
