Identify acute, right and obtuse angles with this cut-and-paste sorting worksheet.

Identify Acute, Right and Obtuse Angles

One of the most fundamental skills when it comes to working with angles is being able to recognise and name acute, right and obtuse angles.

Each of these angles has its own distinct size or size range. The measurements of these angles are as follows:

  • Acute – 1 degree to 89 degrees
  • Right – exactly 90 degrees
  • Obtuse – 91 degrees to 179 degrees

This simple sorting worksheet has been designed to familiarise your students with these three angle types. Students must cut out the angles provided and paste them into the correct column of the table.

An answer key is included with your download to make marking fast and easy!

Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding

In addition to independent student work time, use this worksheet as an activity for:

  • Whole-class review (via smartboard)
  • Guided maths groups
  • Independent practice
  • Homework assignment
  • Summative assessment

Some students may need a reminder of what each of the angle types are while completing the activity. Our Types of Angles Poster Pack is the perfect resource to display in your classroom as a visual guide to refer back to while completing the worksheet.
