Using This Cause and Effect Activity in the Classroom
This cause and effect activity is easy to prepare and use. Here’s how!
Preparation
- Download the cause and effect comprehension worksheets in your preferred format.
- Print a copy of the story and the matching worksheets for each student. Alternatively, project the story on your interactive whiteboard.
- Provide students with scissors, glue and pencils.
Student Instructions
- Begin by reading the short story.
- Next, cut out the causes and effects from Worksheet 1.
- Match each cause to its corresponding effect, arranging them in the order they appear in the story.
- Once matched, glue the ordered pairs onto Page 2.
- Wrap up the activity by completing the ‘More Causes and Effects’ worksheet, where you will be asked to come up with your own causes and effects related to the story.
