Essential Comparing and Ordering Decimals Worksheets

These comparing and ordering decimals worksheets are an engaging and comprehensive resource to help students master decimal concepts. The first five worksheets ask students to complete four modeling tasks:

  • Write each decimal as a fraction
  • Shade in a 100s grid to represent each decimal
  • Write the decimals in a place value chart
  • Order the decimals from least to greatest

Two additional worksheets focus on the place value chart and ordering decimals, allowing students to practise these skills in a more focused way. A blank version of each worksheet is also included so you can easily create your own problems to suit your class’s needs. Answer keys are provided for easy grading and support.

Using Our Comparing Decimals With Models Worksheet Set

This comparing decimals with models worksheet set pairs fabulously with our Order and Compare Decimals With Models and Place Value Teaching Slides (linked below.) But here are some other uses as well!

  • Decimal Templates – Laminate a class set of the blank versions of the two types of worksheets found in this pack so they can be used again and again to compare and order decimals in your maths lessons.
  • Exit Tickets – Cut worksheets seven and eight in half. Give each student one of the halves to complete as an exit ticket for a lesson on comparing or ordering decimals using a place value chart.
  • ‘Solve and Slide’ – Put students in circular groups of four, giving each student one of the first five worksheets. Each student completes the first step on their worksheet (writing the decimals as fractions) and then passes the worksheet to the left. All students then complete the second step (shading in the 100s charts) and the activity continues in this manner until all four activities on each of the worksheets are completed.
