Expand and Contract: Contraction Folding Cards

Welcome to our educational resource center! We are excited to present our downloadable Contraction Folding Cards, designed to help students practice expanding and contracting contractions in a fun and interactive way. These folding cards are perfect for reinforcing contraction skills and making learning an engaging experience. Each card features a pair of words on one side and their corresponding contraction on the other. By folding and unfolding the cards, students can visually and kinesthetically connect the words to their contracted forms.

Fold and Learn: Using Contraction Folding Cards in the Classroom

Here are some creative ways to incorporate our Contraction Folding Cards into your classroom activities:

  • Allow students to use the cards during independent study time to reinforce their understanding of contractions.
  • Pair students up and let them teach each other how to use the cards, fostering collaborative learning.
  • Use the cards in small groups, where students can work together to expand and contract words, discussing the transformations.
  • Once students have used the contraction folding cards, get them to write the two words and then their contraction on the pavement outside with chalk.
  • Get students to use a contraction in a sentence.
  • Start your English classes with a quick folding card activity to get students engaged and ready to learn.
