Contractions Worksheet Pack!

Contractions are an important part of grammar in the early years of school. These worksheets supplement classroom instruction, with an opportunity to practise identifying contractions and writing the long form contraction. Each worksheet on contractions with apostrophes highlights a particular contraction family, so the following contraction sheets are included:

  • Contractions with Have Worksheet
  • Contractions with Had Worksheet
  • Contractions with Has Worksheet
  • Contractions with Are Worksheet
  • Contractions with Is Worksheet
  • Contractions with Not Worksheet
  • Contractions with Will Worksheet
  • Contractions with Not Worksheet

Each worksheet includes a fun word search activity for students to practice spelling contractions, and then a section that has students writing the full version of each contraction.

An answer key is included with your download to make grading fast and easy!

Download and Use Today!

Use the dropdown icon on the Download button to choose between the PDF or editable Google slides file.

Because this resource includes an answer sheet, we recommend you print one copy of the entire file. Then, make photocopies of the blank worksheet for students to complete.

To save paper, we suggest printing the contraction worksheets double-sided.

Turn this teaching resource into a sustainable activity by printing on cardstock and slipping it into a dry-erase sleeve. Students can record their answers with a whiteboard marker, then erase and reuse them.

Additionally, project the worksheet onto a screen and work through it as a class by having students record their answers in their notebooks.
