Explore Irregular Plural Nouns with Fun and Engaging Worksheets
Did you know that not all plural nouns are created equal? Many nouns do not follow the standard ‘add -s or -es’ rule when becoming plural, which makes spelling these words rather tricky for our students!
This set of nine activity worksheets has been designed by our team to make learning and practising irregular plural nouns both effective and enjoyable. The pack includes a range of engaging activities to help students explore the different types of irregular plural nouns.
Some of the activities in this worksheet pack include:
- Code Breaker
- Find and Fix
- Odd One Out
- Crossword
- Maze
- Wordsearch
- And more!
This resource downloads as a black-and-white PDF or editable Google Slides file. The download also includes an answer key to make marking the worksheets fast and easy.
By using these worksheets, teachers can save preparation time, diversify classroom activities and provide students with meaningful practice that goes beyond rote memorisation.
Teach Different Types of Irregular Plurals
To make things even more confusing for our students, there are several different ways that irregular plurals can be created. This resource covers a wide range of irregular plural types so that students can see patterns and exceptions clearly.
Here are the different types of irregular plurals included in this worksheet pack:
- Vowel change plurals (e.g. man → men, tooth → teeth)
- Whole word change plurals (e.g. child → children, person → people)
- No change plurals (e.g. sheep → sheep, deer → deer)
- Uncommon plural endings (e.g. cactus → cacti, syllabus → syllabi)
By exposing students to these categories and their examples, the resource helps demystify the quirks of irregular plurals for students.
