Looking for a Measuring Angles Worksheet?

Once your students can name and classify acute, obtuse, right, straight, reflex and revolution angles, it is time for them to learn how to accurately measure these angles using a protractor.

A protractor is a mathematical instrument used for measuring the size of angles in degrees. Protractors come in two sizes: 180 degrees (a hemisphere shape) or 360 degrees ( a circle shape).

This set of three worksheets has been designed to familarise your students with using a 180 degree protractor to measure acute, right, obtuse and straight angles.

Each question shows an angle with a protractor image placed over the top. Students are required to identify the size of the angle, then name the angle. For example, an angle measuring 30 degrees is an acute angle.

Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding

In addition to independent student work time, use this worksheet as an activity for:

• Whole-class review (via smartboard)
• Guided maths groups
• Independent practice
• Homework assignment
• Summative assessment

Some students may need a reminder of how to use a protractor when completing the worksheet. Our Using a 180 Degree Protractor Poster is the perfect resource to display in your classroom as a visual guide to refer back to while completing the worksheet.

Because this resource includes an answer sheet, we recommend you print one copy of the entire file, then make photocopies of the blank worksheet for students to complete.

Looking for a more sustainable way to use this resource? Project the worksheet onto a screen and work through it as a class by having students record their answers in their notebooks.
