Explore temperature changes and practise reading a thermometer with our Mix and Measure Temperature Experiment.
Telling the Temperature Experiment Pack
Bring hands‑on investigation into your science segment with this Telling the Temperature experiment pack. It is ideal for young scientists learning how temperature changes and how to measure it correctly. This printable resource guides students through a simple, engaging investigation using simple materials such as water, ice, and a thermometer.
With clear steps, easy instructions, and a student‑friendly recording sheet, this Telling the Temperature experiment helps learners understand that temperature can shift over time and that thermometers give us accurate data to compare those changes.
Explore How Temperature Changes Over Time
This experiment pack walks students through each part of the investigation in a structured, easy‑to-follow way. To complete this task, students will:
- Read the introduction and observe the objects they will explore.
- Discuss how temperature can change over time and how it can be measured using a thermometer.
- Review how to read a thermometer correctly.
- Test the temperature of the warm water without ice and record the data. Add an ice cube to the water and stir for 10 seconds.
- Measure the temperature again and record it.
- Repeat the process, adding one ice cube at a time until all five have been used.
- Fill in the Temperature Observation Sheet.
- Use scientific data to create a line graph showing temperature change over time.
