How to Prepare and Play This Addition and Subtraction Money Word Problems Game
This addition and subtraction money word problems game is easy to prepare and play. Here’s how!
Prepare:
- Download and print the resource in the format of your choice. We recommend printing the game board and cards on cardboard and laminating for longevity.
- Cut apart the question cards and shuffle them, placing the stack on the ‘Draw Pile’ section on the game board.
- Give each student a game piece, a modelling recording sheet, and an answer recording sheet.
- Provide each group with a number cube and an answer key.
Play:
- Place game tokens at ‘Start.’ Player 1 rolls the number cube and moves forward the same number of spaces.
- The player follows the directions on the space.
- If the player lands on a picture, they will choose a card and answer the question. A correct answer allows them to stay on the space, while an incorrect answer will send them back to their previous space.
- Players take turns. The player who gets to the ‘Finish’ space first, wins!
