Use these objective language worksheets to teach your students about the specific language features found in neutral, factual writing.
What Is Objective Language (and Why Does It Matter)?
Everyone likes to share their opinion… but there’s a time and a place for everything! In certain types of writing, opinions must be pushed to the side while facts take centre stage. That’s where objective language comes into play!
Objective language is all about presenting facts without personal feelings, opinions or bias. Understanding how to write objectively is an essential part of factual writing and reporting. This set of five unique worksheets has been created by our team to teach your students about the features of objective writing in the context of real sentences. The worksheet pack features a variety of activities, such as:
- Underline the parts of the sentence that show objective language.
- Rewrite the subjective sentences to make them objective.
- Fill the blanks in the cloze passage to maintain objectivity.
- Write a paragraph about an animal using objective language.
- Label the sentences as either objective or subjective.
This objective language worksheet pack downloads as an easy-print PDF or an editable Google Slides file. Answers are included in both file options.
