Not sure where to begin or hoping to change things up this school year?

- Make it welcoming. Set up a welcome sign with your students’ names like our cute and bright fish themed sign that you can download and customize or a space-themed welcome sign with name tags that match.
- Never miss one of your students’ birthdays. Use a bright birthday chart to display all the students’ birthdays. Not only is this and easy idea for classroom decorating that can be set up and kept up all year long, but it will make your students feel valued.
- Use posters to cut decorating time. Posters are simple to hang up and can help you create a positive environment without a lot of effort.
- Let your personality shine in your classroom decor. The things that made you passionate about teaching kids are often your very best tools in the classroom. Floored by flamingos? Wild about Mo Willems? Show your passion in the classroom, and you’ll see those little light switches flip in your students’ brains as they see what they love about the topics that have made you so passionate.
- Beware of OVER decorating. While it can be tempting to go all out with your classroom decor, remember that you don't want to over-stimulate your students! This can be especially tough on neuro-divergent students.
- Leave space for your anchor charts. As the year progresses, you will be creating anchor charts with your students that will reiterate important information. Make sure you've left space for these important tools.
- Incorporate student work. From craftivities that you can hang on your bulletin board to setting up a bulletin board specifically for student work, it's important to incorporate your students' work in your classroom decor.
