Welcome to Celestial Canvas: Design Your Own Planet!

With this project pack, your students will embark on a cosmic journey where their imagination knows no bounds. Let them unleash their creativity and shape a world that reflects their unique vision. While students get to create their own planet, they’ll also go on a learning journey of the current planets in the solar system and their appearance and facts to then brainstorm ideas for their own planet.

The parts that are included in the pack are:

  • Planet design rubric
  • Planet brainstorming template
  • Main planet details of their planet including: name, location, temperature, color and weather
  • 6 interesting facts
  • About any life form on their planet
  • Appearance of their planet

More Activities to do After Students Create Their Own Planet

Here are some more fantastic activities you can complete after this project with your students to draw on their enthusiasm they’ll no doubt have!

  1. Use it as a writing stimulus and have students write a story where their planet is the setting.
  2. Have students create a 3D model of their planet using paper mâché.
  3. Have students work in small groups to create a whole solar system with each of their created planets.
  4. Students can share their created planets with other classes for a speaking task.
