A clear and colorful editing checklist for students to refer to when proofreading their writing.
Encourage your students to carefully proofread and edit their work by referring to this simple and concise checklist. This bookmark will help your students check their work for:
Use the drop-down menu to select a bookmark with checked or unchecked boxes.
Use end punctuation for sentences.
Use conventional spelling for words with common spelling patterns and for frequently occurring irregular words.
Capitalize holidays, product names, and geographic names.
Use an apostrophe to form contractions and frequently occurring possessives.
With guidance and support from peers and adults, develop and strengthen writing as needed by planning, revising, and editing. (Editing for conventions should demonstrate command of Language standards 1-3 up to and including grade 3 here.)
Capitalize appropriate words in titles.
Use conventional spelling for high-frequency and other studied words and for adding suffixes to base words (e.g., sitting, smiled, cries, happiness).
