Literary Elements in a Fairy Tale Sorting Activity

If you are exploring literary elements in a Fairy Tale – this castle-themed Fairy Tale sorting activity is exactly what you need for your small group activities. In this literary elements sorting activity, students need to sort different elements from famous Fairy Tales into the following categories:

  • Characters
  • Setting
  • Problem 
  • Solution

The following Fairy Tale stories are used:

  1. Little Red Riding Hood Sort (text only)

  3. The Three Little Pigs (text only)

Differentiated Literary Elements Activity

This literary elements activity includes 7 different sorts, Little Red Riding Hood and The Three Little Pigs includes two different templates – one with text only, and one that also includes images. This is a great way for you to differentiate this small group activity and provide extra support to those students who may struggle with the reading aspect of this sorting activity. The images provide an extra scaffold to assist these students.
