Writing Numbers – Word Form and Expanded Form

Are your students working with numbers through the hundred-thousandth place? This math worksheet can be the perfect addition to your place value unit. With this activity, students will practice recognizing and writing different number forms for 3, 4, 5, and 6-digit numbers.

This double-sided assessment includes both multiple-choice questions and fill-in-the-blank style questions. Students will practice writing different number forms for numbers through the hundred thousands place.

An answer key is included with your download to make grading fast and easy!

Tips for Differentiation + Scaffolding

If there are students who need a bit of a challenge, encourage them to create a table to list different number forms for larger numbers. Students can write the standard form, word form, and expanded form of each number.

For students who may need additional support, consider completing this worksheet in a 1-on-1 setting or with a small group. Additionally, students can reference previous assignments, posters, or anchor charts to support them with the worksheet.
