Grouping Plants and Animals – Sorting Activity (K-1)

This printable Kindergarten-1st Grade plant and animal grouping or sorting activity makes learning about living things a fun experience. This teaching tool supports students as they sort by colour, size, external features, habitat, and other characteristics to help young learners investigate how plants and animals can be identified and compared. It’s an excellent way to develop early biological science skills while boosting one’s ability to observe and categorise.

Animal & Plant Sorting Activity for Primary Science

  • Small-group science center activities
  • Whole-class warm-ups or inquiry discussions
