Explore Character Traits, Feelings and Appearance
Characters are fundamental to any story. When analysing story characters, it is important for students to consider both internal and external characteristics.
This differentiated worksheet has been designed to help your students become more familiar with the characteristics assigned to story characters. This worksheet can be used for any story the students have read. There are subtle differences between the differentiated versions of this worksheet, as outlined below.
- Worksheet 1 – Students are required to:
- Write about and draw what the character looks like.
- Colour the type of character it is (options are provided).
- Colour the traits that match the character (options are provided).
- Write about and draw how the character feels.
- Worksheet 2 – Students focus on the main character. They are required to:
- Write about and draw what the character looks like.
- Colour the type of character it is (options are provided).
- Colour the traits that match the character (options are provided).
- Write how the character feels in the beginning, middle and end of the story.
Choose the version that best suits the needs of your lesson and your class. Alternatively, provide Worksheet 1 to your less-confident students and Worksheet 2 to your more-capable students.
