Understanding and Practising Contractions: Worksheet Pack for Students

Contractions are shortened forms of two words, created by omitting certain letters and replacing them with an apostrophe. They are commonly used in everyday speech and writing to make communication more efficient and natural. For example:

  • Do not becomes don’t
  • I am becomes I’m
  • He will becomes he’ll

This set of four worksheets has been created and developed by an experienced teacher to specifically help students master the concept of contractions.  This pack includes a variety of activities tailored to different learning styles, here’s what you’ll get in the download:

  • Cut and paste the matching contraction with it’s expanded form.
  • Write the two words that make up each of the contractions provided on the worksheet.
  • Which contraction works best in each sentence provided on the worksheet.
  • Matching contractions with their expanded form.
