Practise Counting Objects With a Set of Dominoes

This set of printable dominoes cards has been created by a teacher to sharpen your students’ counting skills. To play, students will identify the number of objects on a domino and find the domino with the same number on it. Through this activity, students will show they can use one-to-one correspondence skills to count a group of up to 20 objects.

Help students who need help understanding the concepts by using a number line to help with counting. Additionally, provide access to previous assignments, as well as posters and anchor charts for students to recall past lessons. For students who need a bit of a challenge, encourage them to create their own domino set and play with a friend.

More Counting to 20 Activity Ideas

  • Number hunt – hid small objects around the classroom and provide children with a checklist or worksheet numbered from 1-20. Students need to find and count each hidden object and cross off the corresponding number on their checklist.
  • Number line hopscotch – create a large number line on the floor or playground and have children take turns hopping along the number line calling out the numbers.
  • Provide a variety of objects and a numbered counting mat or chart from 1 to 20. Ask children to count out a specific number of objects and place them on the number on that mat.
  • Counting Snack Time – provide snacks like pretzels, fruit pieces etc. and ask children to count out a specific number of snacks before they eat them! Kids love this activity!
