Identifying Descriptive Language Worksheets - Nouns, Adjectives, Verbs and Adverbs

Students read the five narrative texts provided and underline the descriptive language features. These include:

  • nouns and adjectives
  • verbs and adverbs
  • adjectival phrases
  • adverbial phrases
  • common nouns, personal pronouns and proper nouns.

The texts included are:

  • The Cat and the Whale
  • The Hare and the Tortoise
  • The Thirsty Monkey
  • The Wind and Sun
  • My Friend George.

Answers for teachers are also provided.
