A Walk in My Shoes – Empathy Task Cards

Teach Starter Publishing
Google Slide, PDF | 5 pages | Grades: 2 - 5

A set of 20 task cards to use when teaching students about empathy.

Empathy is a skill that does not come naturally to all students. It is also a crucial skill that significantly helps students with their social skills.

These task cards provide students with a short scenario and ask them a series of questions about empathy. These are perfect for adding to your social-emotional curriculum!

These can be used in small groups or as a whole-class discussion starter. We have even included a Google Slides version to assign to individual students virtually. Use the drop-down menu to choose your download.

Ways To Use This Resource

These task cards could be used in a number of ways. You could:

  • Display the task cards on your interactive whiteboard. Have the class read and discuss the scenarios, taking turns to share their ideas.
  • Divide the class into groups, then provide each group with a different scenario. Have the groups read and discuss their scenario, then report back to the class.
  • Provide individual students with a scenario. Have the students compose a written reflection about how they might act in the situation they have been given.
