Set Growth Mindset Goals in the Classroom

Bring a growth mindset to student goal-setting with a printable worksheet that encourages your students to reflect on past accomplishments and current challenges as they plan to tackle the things they can’t do “yet.”

By incorporating “yet” into their learning goals (and personal goals), our students are reminded that their current abilities are not fixed. With effort, practice and a growth mindset, they can continue to progress and achieve their desired outcomes!

Growth Mindset Learning Goal Examples

Need some examples of growth mindset goals that you can share with your students to get them started? Here are some simple goals that incorporate the use of “yet”:

  • “I don’t understand long division yet, but I will keep asking for extra help until I grasp it.”
  • “My cursive writing isn’t legible yet, but I will keep writing until it’s easy to read.”
  • “I don’t know all the elements on the periodic table yet, but I will study the table until I can confidently identify and understand them.”
  • “I haven’t mastered multiplication yet, but with practice and determination, I will become proficient in it.”
