Boost Vocabulary Skills With Printable Vocabulary Games!

Adding vocabulary games to a child’s learning routine can be a fun and effective way to help them develop their language skills. Children who play these games learn new words and practice using them in different situations and with different students. This makes it easier for them to remember and use the words in their reading and writing. This year, We encourage you to add in a few vocabulary games to help your students become stronger readers and writers!

Compound Word Partner Games = Fun!

This pack of printable compound word games is designed for students to play with a partner. Each paper-friendly, no-prep game will surely engage your students and help them learn to work more efficiently when reading and writing compound words. We have included FOUR Compound Word Games in your download. Games are described below:

  • Compound Word Cover-Up Game – How to Play

Each player chooses a different color.

Spin the spinner. Read and color that many compound words.

Take turns reading and coloring words.

Play continues until all compound words have been colored!

  • Compound Word Four in a Row – How to Play

Each player chooses a different color.

Read a word and color the circle.

Take turns reading the words and coloring the circles.

Play continues until a player colors four in a row in any directions

  • Compound Word Maze – How to Play

Each player chooses a different color.

To start, color in the ‘start box’ using a chosen color.

Take turns reading and coloring squares to create pathways to the ‘finish’ spot.

The squares students color must share a side. They cannot cross the other player’s pathway.

Play continues until one player makes it to the finish line.

  • Compound Words Roll and Read – How to Play

Each player chooses two different colors.

Roll the dice.

Read a word and color a square.

Play continues until a player colors all of their boxes.
