Preparing and Using This Dream House Project Resource
Using our dream house project is as easy as download, print, and go! Here’s how to get your students started on designing their dream homes:
Preparation:
- Download the resource in the format of your choice.
- Print a copy of all pages of the resource for each student.
- Give students the instructions below, explaining the grading rubric so they know how they will be assessed.
Student Instructions:
- Brainstorm features you would like to include in your dream home. Record your ideas in the graphic organizer.
- Illustrate and describe the elevation (front view) of your dream home.
- Sketch the floor plan of your house. Be sure to include the required items.
- Draw and label a scale blueprint of the floor plan. One square on the grid will represent 3 square feet.
- Use your blueprint to calculate the dimensions of each room.
Differentiation Tip: Teaching area or want to challenge your students? The editable Google Slides version of this math dream house project can be modified to include questions about the total area of the rooms and house!
