Use this hands-on number bonds (addition and subtraction) strategy activity in your next guided math group lesson!

Fact Family Hands-On Math Game!

Reinforce your student’s understanding of the relationship between addition and subtraction in a tangible way using this hands-on activity! Explore part-part whole as a concept using fun fact families!

To prepare this resource for your next guided math group, print the mats and cards on cardstock and cut apart the cards. 

To play, students choose a number sentence card and build it on the number bond mat using manipulatives. Students then record their answers or representations on the provided recording sheet.

Features of this resource include:

  • Separate building mats for differentiation.
  • Separate addition and subtraction cards and mats.
  • Facts within 10 for kindergarten and within 20 for first grade.

Sustainability Tip: Print a few recording sheets on cardboard and slip them into write-and-wipe sleeves. Students can record their answers with a whiteboard marker, then erase and reuse them.
