This set of brand-new opinion writing checklist templates is perfect for your opinion writing lessons. What Opinion Writing Checklists are Included?
We have included a variety of opinion writing checklist templates for students of varying ages and abilities to use. These templates are described below:
- Beginner Checklist #1—Developed in checkbox format, beginning writers can use this checklist to check their work against a set of 6 criteria, including the use of an opening statement, transitions, concluding statement, etc. It focuses on editing for content rather than spelling, punctuation, etc.
- Intermediate Checklist #1—This checklist is designed for students to use when editing individual sections of their writing. It includes reminders for edits to the introduction, main body, and conclusion sections.
- Structure & Editing Checklist—This checklist works for students who need to review both the structure and grammar/spelling/punctuation in their writing.
- Beginner Checklist #2 – This checklist includes the same options as the Beginner Checklist #1 but is organized in a table format with Yes/No responses for students to mark off as they edit.
- Intermediate Checklist # 2—This checklist includes a variety of elements to check and is designed in a table format for intermediate writers.
- Upper-Level Checklist – Similar to the structure and editing checklist, this table-formatted checklist guides students to check their work for errors and edits regarding structure and grammar errors.
