Retelling a Story Activities

Are you looking for more activities to include in your story-retelling lesson planning? Why not incorporate some of these activities:

• Create a timeline on a long piece of paper for students to place key events from a story chronologically.
• Provide students with a blank map and have them plot the story’s setting and significant locations. Get students to draw pathways showing the movements of characters through the setting.
• Have students retell different sections of the story in pairs or small groups.
• Have students write a concise story summary within a specified word limit.
