A set of over 100 decodable sound button flashcards.

Use these sound button flashcards with younger students to help them break up words into individual phonemes.

These lists have been carefully constructed so that they gradually get harder.

  • Purple – words that contain the following letters – satpin.
  • Light Blue – words that contain the above plus the following letters – mdgock.
  • Pink – words that contain the above plus the following letters – erubhfl.
  • Dark Blue – words that contain the above plus the following letters – jwvxyzq.
  • Red – words that contain all single letter phonemes plus the digraph ‘sh’.
  • Yellow – words that contain all single letter phonemes plus the digraph ‘ch’.
  • Green – words that contain all single letter phonemes plus the digraph ‘wh’.
  • Brown – words that contain all single letter phonemes plus the digraph ‘th’.

This resource is available to download in Microsoft Word so you can add your own words to suit your students’ levels. The dots and dashes are individual images that can be copied and pasted to the required position underneath any words added.

The resource is also available to download in Microsoft PowerPoint. An editable slide has been included at the end of each set of words so you can add additional words.
