Finding Volume Worksheets

Are your students working on how to find the volume of a 3D object? If so, Teach Starter has some worksheets to supplement your classroom instruction! So what exactly is volume? Volume is the amount of space inside a solid object. To find the volume of an object, simply use the formula V = L × W × H. You can use this set of differentiated worksheets with students who are working with whole numbers and those who are ready to work with decimals.  

This resource includes three levels for students to practise finding the volume of rectangular prisms and cubes. Students must answer ten questions calculating the volume with the following:

• circle version – whole numbers (smaller, easier dimensions)
• triangle version – whole numbers (dimensions requiring more advanced computation)
• square version – two whole number dimensions and one decimal (the final question is a challenge with all three dimensions measured as a decimal).

An answer key is included with your download to make marking fast and easy!

For students who need a bit of a challenge, encourage them to create their own volume problems using a mix of whole numbers and decimals.
