What Is a Tarsia Puzzle?

A Tarsia puzzle is a jigsaw puzzle used to help students understand related concepts. It consists of pieces with a shape and pattern that can be assembled to form a larger shape or design.

Tarsia puzzles often include equations, diagrams or vocabulary-type exercises. They reinforce understanding and promote problem-solving skills in a fun and interactive way.

Many Words, Many Sides, and So Much Fun!

Use this resource as a fun and engaging replacement activity for those run-of-the-mill synonym worksheets.

Print each student a single copy and set them to work expanding their vocabulary skills. Students are required to cut the polygons out. They are jumbled up, so they must put the puzzle back together by looking at the words and then placing the corresponding synonym next to it.

Students can paste the completed puzzle onto notebook paper in an interactive notebook.
