A place value activity to help students identify 2-digit numbers on a number line.
- Whole Group Activity – Print the prompt cards and the number line pieces on cardstock and cut them out. Tape or glue the number line together and hang it in an area where all students can reference it. Give each student a small desk-size number line or a hundreds chart to work on and a set of counters. Pick a card and read the clues to the class. Ask the students to place a counter on the corresponding number.
- Math Center Activity -Print the prompt cards and the number line pieces on cardstock and cut them out. Keep the number line in pieces and have the students build it on the floor as part of the activity. Students will pick a card and read the clue. Then, they will place a counter on the corresponding number. When they are done, have students record all of the numbers with a counter on their recording sheet.
