This 8-problem addition worksheet is best used as independent practice as part of your addition lesson. 

Students will solve the 2-digit addition sentences to find the sum, which has a letter of the alphabet associated with it. Then they will use their answers to solve the riddle at the bottom of the worksheet by writing the letter that corresponds to each sum.

Got fast finishers? Encourage students in need of an additional challenge to write word problems to accompany each of the addition sentences on the worksheet.

For students who need extra support, you may wish to provide manipulatives (such as blocks or counters) or a hundreds chart to assist students in completing the equations.

A Variety of Ways to Prepare This Resource

Because this resource includes an answer sheet, we recommend you print one copy of the entire file. Then, make photocopies of the blank worksheet for students to complete.  

You can also turn this teaching resource into a sustainable activity! Print a few copies on cardstock and slip them into dry-erase sleeves. Students can record their answers with a dry-erase marker, then erase and reuse. 

Additionally, project the worksheet onto a screen and work through it as a class by having students record their answers in their notebooks.
