Form Sets of Four With Random Student Grouping Cards

Make grouping your students quick, fair, and completely hassle‑free with this set of Printable Random Student Grouping Cards designed specifically for forming equal groups of four. Perfect for any primary classroom, these cards help you create balanced, random groups in seconds… no sorting, no counting off, and no wasted transition time.

Each student receives a card featuring an image from a themed category, and their job is to find the three classmates whose cards belong to the same category. It’s visual, engaging, and wonderfully simple.

Create Groups of Four Based on Categories

This set includes a variety of fun, kid‑friendly categories such as:

  • pets
  • breakfast foods
  • sea creatures
  • And more!

To use the cards:

  1. Hand out one card to each student.
  2. Students move around the room, looking for classmates whose cards belong to the same category.
  3. Once four students with matching categories find each other, they form a complete group.

If your class size isn’t divisible by four, simply allow one group to include an extra member.
