Inspire your students to reflect and set one-word goals for the new year with a “Just One Word” goal-setting project.

Craft One-Word Resolutions in the Classroom this January!

This student goal-setting project is best used as a New Year’s social-emotional learning lesson. Encourage your students to set attainable goals and begin their new year with a one-word goal in mind that will carry them through the next 365 days.

With this template, students will identify their one-word goal for the new year, reflect and plan for how to meet their goal, and reflect on the goal-setting process. Then they will create a fun One-Word t-shirt to illustrate their goal for the year.

Show Off Your One-Word Goals with a New Year Bulletin Board

Use this activity to create an amazing New Year bulletin board inside or outside your classroom. Have the students complete the project, then display their one-word tee shirts on your bulletin board. Now everyone can see how your students are focused on the new year!

Easily Prepare This New Year’s Activity for Your Students

This resource is a low-prep resource that only requires you to make copies for your students. Provide them with copies of the project templates, pencils, and crayons. Then you can turn them loose to set goals for the new year.

Use the Download button to download the PDF version of this resource. Print each student a copy of the template pages, stapling them into a packet for easier distribution.
