Do your students struggle reading words that contain different digraphs? We’ve seen the struggle firsthand, and completely understand why! The English language contains hundreds of words that use the digraph OW and it is tough to decide when to use one sound or another. We’ve put together a simple resource to help you teach and practice the sounds of OW. 

The 24 OW words included in this download are a fantastic way to practice reading, writing, and practicing OW words. This deck includes words that end with OW, words that begin with OW, and words with ow in the medial position.

Create Your List of OW Words 

You can even use these OW word cards to help generate a list of OW words for students to take home and practice. Words included are

​​If students are struggling with reading the words, guide them in orally reciting the sounds and have the students blend the words together. After reciting several words, have the students take over and review on their own. If students are still struggling, review letter sounds with a visual reminder, like an anchor chart or an alphabet display. You might also consider small group intervention.
