Explanation texts describe how and why something works, or how and why an event occurs. This informative prompt guides students through researching, planning and writing an explanation text called What Causes the Seasons? Use this explanation writing template as a scaffolded writing activity when teaching your students about explanation writing, and about seasons!
The students will need to:
- research the topic
- record dot-point notes on the template provided
- write up their text in complete sentences on the scaffold provided.
A diagram of the process of seasonal change has been included to help students better understand the process and to stimulate some initial ideas for their writing.
