Rounding Numbers Game

Are your students in need of additional practice with rounding whole numbers? Teach Starter has created a printable board game you can use with your 4th-grade students. Students will practice how to round 6-digit numbers to a given place.

Here are the basic steps to round a whole number:

  • Locate the place value to which you want to round the number. For example, if you are going to round to the nearest ten, locate the tens place.
  • Look at the digit to the right of the place value you’re rounding to. If it’s 5 or more, round up. If it’s less than 5, round down.
  • Write the number you’ve rounded to where you found it in step 1. If you round up, increase this digit by 1. If you rounded down, leave it as is. If you round up and make this digit 10, carry over to the next digit.

This board game provides a fun and interactive way to practice and reinforce key mathematical concepts while also encouraging teamwork and friendly competition.
