A Printable Soil Book for Elementary Students

As teachers, we at Teach Starter HQ understand how challenging it can be to find high-quality, age-appropriate resources to use in your science lessons. In our constant pursuit to make planning easier for our members, we’ve created this printable soil mini-book specifically for younger students. 

While engaging with this printable soil book, students will learn about the following topics:

• What is soil?
• Types of soil
• Sand
• Loam
• Silt
• Clay

The final page of the mini-book contains a “Show What You Know” section where students have the opportunity to demonstrate how well they have grasped the concepts presented.

This resource contains four Letter-size pages. Each page includes two mini-book pages (8 pages in total). To assemble the mini-book, follow these simple steps.

1. Print out the resource. Create copies as required.
2. Cut each page along the dotted line.
3. Compile the pages in order.
4. Staple the pages along the left-side margin to create a booklet. 
5. Distribute to the students.

This resource is available as a black-and-white PDF or an editable Google Slides file.

Your students can refer to their mini-books as a valuable source of information for the duration of your unit on soil!
