### Curriculum

• #### CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.K.CC.A.3

Write numbers from 0 to 20. Represent a number of objects with a written numeral 0-20 (with 0 representing a count of no objects).

• #### CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.K.CC.B.4

Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities; connect counting to cardinality.

• #### CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.K.CC.B.4.A

When counting objects, say the number names in the standard order, pairing each object with one and only one number name and each number name with one and only one object.

• #### CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.K.CC.B.4.B

Understand that the last number name said tells the number of objects counted. The number of objects is the same regardless of their arrangement or the order in which they were counted.

• #### CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.K.CC.B.4.C

Understand that each successive number name refers to a quantity that is one larger.

• #### CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.K.CC.B.5

Count to answer "how many?" questions about as many as 20 things arranged in a line, a rectangular array, or a circle, or as many as 10 things in a scattered configuration; given a number from 1-20, count out that many objects.

## Count and Create Your Dream Pizza – Counting Digital Activity

Dive into this fun and educational interactive game, created by a teacher to boost students’ counting skills up to 10. Students will count a variety of toppings like pepperoni, mushrooms, olives and bacon. Once they’ve counted how many of each ingredient they need – they can then drag the ingredients onto their pizza and – voila!

By incorporating a digital activity like this into your math learning experience for your young mathematicians, you’re providing them with ample opportunities to practice their new found skill of counting to 10!

## Importance of Counting to 10 for Kids

Counting to 10 is a fundamental skill that forms the foundation for all future math learning. Here’s why mastering this skill is crucial for young learners:

• Numeracy Skills: Counting to 10 helps children develop basic numeracy skills, which are essential for understanding more complex math concepts later on.
• Number Recognition: Recognizing numbers and understanding their order is a key step in mathematical development.
• Cognitive Development: Counting exercises enhance cognitive abilities, such as memory and problem-solving.

This resource is available to download as a Google Slide. You will need to use this resource in edit mode so students can drag and drop their pizza ingredients onto their pizza base.
